Pour l’état civil, le caporal Vincent Lamarre, est encore Virginie Lamarre. Avec le soutien de sa famille et l’aval de sa hiérarchie, Vincent a entamé un processus de changement de sexe pris en charge par les services médicaux des Forces Armées canadiennes. Conformer son corps à son identité ressentie le confronte à ces interrogations profondes : Qu’est-ce qui définit un homme ? Le taux de testostérone ? Le pénis ? Les performances physiques ? L’esprit guerrier ? Le regard des autres ? Et l’amour dans tout ça ?

It was as Virginie that corporal Vincent Lamarre enrolled in the Canadian Army. The movie relates Vincent’s sexual transition with the support of his chain of command. What defines a man? His testosterone? His penis? His warrior spirit? The way people look at him?

Il va falloir au minimum 2 ans pour que Virginie devienne Vincent.
La transition physique de Vincent a commencé à l’automne 2015 avec le début de l’hormonothérapie. Depuis, la réalisatrice a filmé les différentes étapes: suivi psychologique, changement d’état civil, premières chirurgies. Le tournage se fait en immersion dans le milieu professionnel et familial de Vincent. L’objectif de cette campagne est de réunir le financement nécessaire pour tourner les événements de l’été et de l’automne 2017 décisifs dans la fin du  parcours de Vincent.

Le tournage devrait être terminé à la fin de l’automne 2017. Les étapes de post production pourront alors démarrer.

It will take at least 2 years for Virginie to become Vincent, between the hormonal therapy, the various surgeries and the official change of identity.
Vincent’s physical transition began in the fall of 2015 with the hormone therapy. The director has been filming all the stages until the first surgeries. The filming is done in immersion in Vincent’s working environment as well as in his family.We need to complete the journey with a filming crew to document the crucial events of the summer and fall 2017. 

Filming is expected to be completed by the end of the fall 2017. The post production stages will then begin.

L’objectif de cette campagne de  financement participatif est de pouvoir assurer la fin du tournage : étant donné la nature du sujet le tournage est astreint à l’évolution chronologique de la transition de Vincent.
Le parcours de Vincent est irréversible, notre engagement est de le suivre jusqu’au bout.
Une partie du cheminement de Vincent a été filmé et il nous faut réunir rapidement un budget nous permettant de tourner les événements de l’été à l’automne 2017.

Parce qu’elle aborde le sujet de la transition sexuelle avec une angle totalement inédit, parce qu’elle déconstruit les stéréotypes et les préjugés, parce qu’elle est positive, L’histoire de Vincent marquera sans doute une ouverture dans la reconnaissance des droits civiques des personnes transsexuelles.

The goal of this crowdfunding is to be able to ensure the end of the filming: given the nature of the topic, the shooting is constrained to the chronological evolution of Vincent’s transition.
There is no going back into Vincent’s journey, our commitment is to follow him to the end.
Part of the film has already been shooted and we need to quickly find funding to allow us to pursue the filming from the summer to the fall 2017.

Because the director approach the subject of sexual transition with a totally new angle, because it deconstructs stereotypes and prejudices, because it is positive, Vincent’s story will undoubtedly mark an opening in the recognition of transgender people’s civil rights.
