Doris Buttignol, la réalisatrice a développé une relation intime avec Vincent et sa famille, elle a passé beaucoup de temps en immersion avec lui. L’armée canadienne a confirmé son autorisation de filmer sur la base militaire où Vincent travaille. Nous avons également eu accès à leurs services médicaux, qui supervisent les différentes étapes de sa transition ainsi qu’un accès complet aux archives de la mission de Vincent en Afghanistan, nécessaire à la narration de ce documentaire.

We have also been granted access to their medical services, which oversee the different stages of his transition as well as any other locations, which could be of interest for the documentary. As well as full access to the archives of Vincent’s mission in Afghanistan.
The Canadian army has started developing an integration policy for transgender people in 2010. All the expenses of the surgeries and therapies involved are being supported by the military medical insurances. It is always challenging to film the story of an individual in the army, but in this case, we have the support of the army as they see Vincent as a positive role model.
